When it gets cold at night Mr Rockstar tends to wake up at 2am and pace, and then need to pee. He has learnt to come to the bedroom door. I hear his nails click on the floorboards and can then drag my sorry ass out of bed and let him out. To begin with he would bugger around and take his time. Now he knows that he has a window of opportunity to pee and get back inside to be tucked into polar fleece jammies before I shut the door and he just has to deal with it outside. He also has the sdvantage over Patch Rat in that he barks and whines when the need arises.
Patch is a silent wee soul. She will stand by the door and will it to open. She doesn't like to make a fuss and hates nothing more than cold grass and going outside at night. She is generally very good and has an iron clad bladder. I swear she has gone 16 hours without peeing due to rain and cold! So last night I let Rocky out and crawled back into bed at about 2.30am. Having to push Benny cat out the way as he stretches out when I get up is always fun. He meows in protest that I should shift him from his spot. HA! that is MY bed and you are only allowed on it by my good grace.... and the fact that I couldn't keep the noisy bugger off if I tried. Anyway, I digress. Patch slept through Rocky getting up and thismorning I found a little puddle of doggy pee. Very unlike her. I will give her credit though, she tried really hard to frame Benny cat. I guess she was just a little bit big to fit in the dirt box but she did go right next to it.
Does this look like a dog that is going anywhere in a hurry?
I love having all hard floors, I used to panic about cleaning up fosters accidents and annoyed Chicken pee from the carpet in the rental house. Now we have one piece of carpet in the whole house and it is in the lounge. Granted, we changed it from the lovely beige coulor that showed up all the dirt to a nice charcoal grey colour that doesn't show dirt but does show anything light - can't win there, just have to vacuum semi-regularly.... Still, cleaning up pee from tiles is much preferable to carpet. Benny is doing well, after a ton of tests and several hundred dollars at the vet later his eyes have cleared up and he has stopped scratching his ears. All thanks to a change in diet. This somewhat pisses me off as I was feeding him the most expensive vet prescribed allergen free food around. It was costing more a month to feed him than both the dogs put together..... so now he is happier, if smellier. He looks beautiful, his coat is shiny, his eyes are bright and he is happy, but man does he let rip with some noxious farts! His dirt box needs a bio-hazard sign next to it. I figure it is a smallish price to pay for a happy cat, it just annoys me that he farts right before jumping off the bed and leaving the room....
Damn cat, he gets away with murder.
