Calm before the storm

My dogs are promo vets, and Saturday we had a promo at the Vet! They did the usual, got there, got excited and then promptly passed out.

They make such a cute couple. We had a big grey contingent and a lovely day. In rare moments of activity for Patch she would sidle up to the guy running the display next to us for cuddles. This had it's benefits, we scored lots of cool samples of shampoo and stuff! Good girl.... The flyball display going on behind us had all the ex-racing greys fired up, even Fletch managed to look interested.

It was threatening to rain all day but didn't actually deliver. When I look back on this promo it will stand out for me. At the time it was just a fun day out. It holds special memories for me now.

Our dogs are always tired after promos, it is so tiring being adored all day! They love the attention and adoration. And we love spending the day with our greys.

Sometimes we even get greyhound hugs!

I have taken Patch to just about every promo since I have had her, I have taken Fletch to all the ones that have been on since he came to us too.

K9 Capers next week is going to be really hard. I will only be taking Patch.

The storm has broken. There is wind echoing through the void in my heart that Fletcher has left.

Princess Patch and her Prince Charming Fletcher. They love each other, handy that. Fletch is actually one of the few, if not the only dog that Patch has engaged in "play" with. They have wrestle mania sessions, funny when it is out in the yard, not so funny at 6am in the bedroom....

They are both great dogs to take to promos, they just lie there as good greyhounds do. Today we entered a "fastest dog" competition. Alot of people were expecting great things from all the greys, we had a book on whether ANY of them would actually chase the ball..... We had some degree of success. The fastest dog came in at 1.67 seconds. Patch ran a respectable 1.8 seconds and of all dogs, The Snork ran 1.9 seconds. Snork did so well today, for a girl that started out afraid to let anyone near her she had a lovely time wandering around talking to people and dogs, men even! This is a BIG step for her. Brooke must be so proud...... her dogs are stars this weekend. Her race dog Otto ran on Saturday, he didn't win, but boy can he run and I will be backing him over a longer distance. He fairly flew home.

Fletch is not doing much flying, he is doing alot of flopping.

He loves to get out and about, just doesn't have the stamina. His legs can't hold him up all the time, though he likes to lie there and watch the world go by.

There is so much more to post about today, but I am as exhausted as the puppies, so I will come back to it tomorrow, or at 3am when they get up and decide to play after the 10hour nap they are in the middle of right now...
